First trip at sea, as a Marconi junior Radio Officer. Captain was Captain Nelson, so we knew we were OK! Rotterdam, Gulf, India, Australia, Japan, Indonesia + Singapore. Not bad for a 6 month trip on a tanker!

I met my future brother in law on the ship in 1966. This was 5th Engineer Martin Crawshaw who was great guy. Sadly not cut out for a long-term sea-going career he left seafaring to become a psychologist. Many said that trianing with Shell Tankers set him up very well for his future career as a psychologist in academia.

I was actually on board the vitta when that picture was taken of her going under sydney harbour bridge,i joined her in the persian gulf in august of 1965. After australia we went to ballipapan, indonesia,to load wax for rotterdamn of which by the time we got there,it had all gone sollid and so we had to get a shore gang in to chisel it all out and as you can imagine, that was,nt a lot of fun especially in december.I,de love to hear from anybody who was on her at the same time.
