Many, many years too late but just seen that I am shown as "Acting 3rd Engineer" on the Linga in 1959-60. Fortunately for the Chief Engineer I wasn't! I was in fact the Acting Third Mate. I was only 19 at the time, and joined the Linga when she was in dry dock in Curacao. The 2nd Mate was Bruce Randoll and the Mate was Dougie Robinson. Both wonderful people and as mad as March hares. It was a privilege to be shipmates with them both. 56 years later I am still in touch with Bruce----he is still mad!
