April 1976 flew down to Heathrow from Manchester ,then onto Amsterdam overnight stop in Airport hotel. Then flew to Singapore had a 3 day wait for her to come in .Joined her from a small launch .Can remember the ship's radio playing the commentry of the Grand National race just as we were coming aboard, this would be about 10.30 local time .We then set sail for the Gulf but by midnight we had run aground, holed badly .We were lightened then towed back to dry dock ,We spent 2 months there (skeleton crew) before she was sold and we were flown home ,Sad note, though a local woman was killed on board when she fell down steps going down to the tanks .Cant imsgine any women doing tank cleaning in this country the or now . I was on her previously in Feb 1975-July 1975, the best trip I EVER HAD still mates with some of the guys from then .
