In 1963 or 64 I was a schoolboy living in Jersey. As a hobby I was a 'Ship Spotter'
I used to spend my spare time down at the harbour in St Helier recording the details of the many coaster ships that came to Jersey.
I had already made the Frog kit of the MV Shelll Welder and used to look at the original ship when it came in and check the colour scheme and physical details in order to get the model correct in every detail.
One day I got talking to an officer on the ship and he offered to show me over the whole vessel. This was fascinating, especially the enginer room.
I told him there was a plastic kit of the ship and he asked me if I would make a model for him. I readily agreed and for a small fee (I think it was 10 shillings)
I made him the model and handed it over at the next opportunity.
I have often wondered, a, Who he was, and b, whether the model still exists.
Does anyone remember me or the model ?
