12/11/2008 - 00:52 Hi David, thanks for the email. "Sea Shell" was written by Stephen Howarth, and published by Thomas Reed Publications in the UK. (Reeds Distance Tables?). There is a copy available on the internet (ukbookworld.com) for pounds 35 plus postage. It is a hardcover book so postage might be on the high side. You could still pick it up in Cambridge, However it would be there from 2nd. Jan on.(not over xmas as I thought). I could also send it to you via snail mail. Let me know. Bst Rgds. Colin
12/05/2008 - 18:32 Hi,David. "Sea Shell" is the story of Shell Tankers from 1892 to 1992, and an interesting read. I live in Victoria BC. Have a friend who is going over to Cambridge Ont. over xmas and would only be too pleased to have her take the book with her, if you could pick it up. It can always be returned the following year. Let me know. I was on the San Gaspar April to June 1961, prior going up for 2nd.mates. Remember Nervous Neeves well. Best Rgds. Colin

02/19/2005 - 20:58 Re. email from Robert Dennis Williams of 18th.feb. I sailed as a deck apprentice under Capt. Jimmy Brittain in 1958 and 1960 0n Achatina and Acavus. One thing I will always remember is that he hated to see apprentices sitting idle. I have never worked so hard in my life. Does anyone else remember Capt. Brittain? Regards Colin Mclean
