| 08/24/2009 - 22:47 | Hey Jac, Of course I remember you "Mingy" We had a few laughs remember. Galley boy was John. I left the Merch. in 1990, went into offshore oil and gas industry. Still here, 51 next month, im over in Nigeria now with Shell Global Solutions. Im on 850 pounds a fucking day!! Were we on Achatina or Paludina together? I was pumpman. Went through for engineer -made 4th, hated it, hated them snobby arseholes. Couldnt get my 2nd engineers ticket so no rook for professional 4th!! | 04/25/2007 - 07:27 | Hi to all who may remember me ( Boo and Tiny??) Achatina 1980? Lima? Paludina? Northia? Rapana?- few more too but memory is fading!! Was pumpman, went to 4th ( when filipinos took our jiobs) but hated it. Left the sea ( which I loved -and still do) and went into offshore industry , oil and gas. Still in it 17 years later. Working for bp as mechanical technician / coach -training Azerbaijan national techs. Been all over the world in this game. 10 years at sea, 5 with Shell. Happiest times of my life, and some great memories. Shell tankers were rough -but we were tough! Worked hard and played hard. Get in touch shipmates. |

Achatina was my first ship in the Merch. after leaving the Royal Navy. I joined her whilst she was in dry dock in Malta. Stinking hot, as the AC was not working! |

Lanistes... Fine ship. Cannot remember were I joined her, but she was floating storage I think? Relieved a Pumpman from Southampton called John Cox! |
